Old Age and Gestalt Therapy: The Last Precious Chapter of Life

Time passing

in the remaining time

LIFE turns out to be so precious

The Great Age is the last chapter in the book of the life of each being.

A light, sometimes heavy book, dotted with words that collide, search for each other, nestle in the depths of encounters, passages, loves, illnesses, losses and reunions.

Being Alive and reaching Old Age also means perceiving the living with more attention, slowness, gentleness, pain and fear, accompanied by loving, consoling, joyful presences.

The Great Age brings us closer to the ultimate passage,

of the great journey and makes life even more essential and the present moment unique.

It offers time to write, to name, to celebrate, to forgive, to put things in order, to embrace those who are loved.

Before continuing and writing your “How to…” or “Best of…” post, add a final sentence to summarize your paragraph and provide a smooth transition to your guide.

The Great Age invites us to abandon ourselves,

to be in the presence of family, friends, caregivers, in the gaze of a human, of a hand placed on the arm, of a word that soothes, of a song hummed together , of shared breathing.

Old age is a stage marked by wrinkles on the face,

testifying to the furrows of laughter and tears, to the tremor of the body which recalls the leaves of the trees which twirl with the tumultuous winds, the gentle breezes.

The Great Age is a voice that becomes a breath,

inviting us to strain our ears to hear the words, evils that demand our full attention. A failing memory that no longer remembers and that vibrates to scents, to musical notes, to touch, to a look, to connection like a newborn...
